Basic HD channel listings (no cable box)?

Is there a list of the channel numbers for HD channels when not using a cable box? For example in my area (Muskogee, OK) low def Fox is on channel 5. HD Fox is on channel 102.3. Low def CBS is on 6. HD CBS is on 102.2.

The listings from that are for people with cable boxes. None of the channels are accurate if you simply hook cable directly to a TV with a digital tuner.

Since the QAM channels can change at any time, those listings would be frequently inaccurate.

But since you asked, the listings at SD are usually pretty good:

Looks like that site has info for cable providers in the surrounding area and for digital antennas, but not for Suddenlink.

You'd think Suddenlink would provide this info but, I guess I'll do it the hard way and flip channels to make a list myself.

I haven't found a way to get the HD channels w/out using the cable box. If you do run across a way, please share it in this thread!

Pretty much anything under 99 will be available in SD without a cable box. At least how it works here. The only digital HD channels we get without a cable box are the local OTA channels.

How do you get them? Mine are up in the 7xx range and my tv won't go there.

I just checked and our Vizio TV tunes the 700's just fine. Alas, without a cable box (which contains its own Cable Card for decoding) you'll only see the unscrambled local channels. In their quest to pick as many pockets as possible, cable companies have totally screwed up TV's so that everyone is forced to rent $30 cable boxes for $75 a year. They have rendered built-in digital tuners nearly useless. But, the American sheeple will do anything to not miss out on what the Kardashian trashbags are up to... Guess it's my tv then that can't tune up to the 700 range. I have always thought that advertising free HD but requiring a $6+/month box was a bit cheating.

Free HD in this case means you don't pay extra for the HD versions of SD channels you already get via expanded service (ESPN, HGTV, etc). Many cable companies have moved to requiring $10/mo extra for that "privilege."

Pretty ridiculous, but (disclaimer) I also don't pay for cable TV anymore.

That's my point. They shouldn't allowed to market it like it's free when you have to pay extra to get your free content.

I'm about to join you, lol, going to be setting up my antenna mast when it warms up a bit
